Now the first, is that if you flossed every single day, the length of the perimeter of the floss if you put it all out would be the perimeter of a baseball diamond! That’s huge, and in just one year you can do that.

Only 40 percent of young people from ages 6-19 have had cavities. That might seem like a lot, but that’s actually down by over 50% from a decade ago! With the development of fluoridated toothpastes, it’s really helped a person keep their oral heath in check.

Now, in the middle ages, they used a very interesting means of cleaning their teeth. They would use the tooth of a dog and boil it in wine. It was then used as a mouth rinse in order to prevent tooth decay. Sounds tasty, right? Well, I don’t necessarily think that, but it might’ve somewhat helped with tooth decay.

There is an animal called the Egyptian plover, which is commonly known as the crocodile bird. This animal is known for flying into a coprolite’s mouth and cleaning their teeth. Isn’t that nice of them? Guess they want to keep those chompers nice and healthy as well.

Now, you might be wondering what toothpastes were made out of before it was highly commercialized today. Well, typically they were in a powder form and they did contain soap and chalk. It probably wasn’t as hygienic and as healthy as it is today, and it probably didn’t taste as good as it does as well.

Now, there is an interesting law out there, and if you live in Vermont, you should consider this. It’s actually illegal for women to ear false teeth without their husband’s permission. Crazy, right? Well, I don’t know how enforced that is, but it is interesting.

Finally, there are actually different animals that have different numbers of teeth. While we only have 32, some animals have way more. An armadillo has 104 teeth, and a pig has 44 of them. Imagine being the one to have to clean 104 teeth every single day. The armadillo would probably need a huge toothbrush in order to do that sort of thing.
